Remembering What Matters Most

Posted by 2 on

I have a confession to make: It’s December 21st and I haven’t finished my holiday shopping, written a single holiday card, done any decorating, or baked Christmas cookies. Normally this situation would keep me awake at night worrying but, to be honest, I’m completely calm. What’s important to me is my family is healthy and we are going to have several weeks to simply “hang out” and relax together. It’s amazing how liberating it is to realize that even if the mistletoe isn’t hanging above the door frame, the house looks like a disaster zone (my sons have brought back all of their “stuff” from university and we don’t have any where to store it), and I can always pick up “homemade” baked goods from the local bakery (they are open throughout the holidays except Xmas day), the holidays will still be special. Perhaps my more easy going attitude is a sign of my age although it’s more likely a reflection of the exhaustion I’m feeling at this time of year. Either way, I know I’m extremely grateful for the many blesses in my life: family, friends, good health, and owning a business that I’m passionate about. I sincerely wish all of you the very best for the holidays and New Year … hope, peace, joy, health and love!

  • We finished ours but this year it was more laxed too. I like it better that way.
Besides, to me it’s all about family and friends. That’s what makes me happy.
Wishing you all the best throughout the holidays!!
    And Cheers to 2012

  • Thank you Pam! It’s probably more of a lesson of need than wisdom but it’s certainly a nice feeling. Very best wishes to you and your family as well. I really hope we get to meet in person sometime soon! I know I’m going to like you even more in person than I already do!

  • Good for you, Karyn. It has taken me years to figure some of this out. It’s so liberating to realize you don’t to bake and decorate til you drop to have a happy holiday. I’m wishing you a lovely, relaxed and fun time with your family.
