Tail Wags Helmet Covers is proving it’s possible for a small business entrepreneur to create a successful business even without the support of outside investors. Two years ago, Karyn Climans, owner of Tail Wags Helmet Covers, was seen on the popular CBC television show Dragon’s Den. Tail Wags, which sells fun and adorable covers that can be worn on any sports helmet, was seeking an investment of $100,000.00 to fund different initiatives to keep up with growing demand. Two of the Dragons, Jim Treliving and Bruce Croxon, gave Karyn the deal she was looking for because they agreed her product has huge growth potential. So why did Karyn end up refusing their offer after the fact? Jim and Bruce wanted to send production of her helmet covers off shore in order to increase the profit margins but Karyn resisted and made the bold decision to continue production locally. So what has happened since? Tail Wags can now be spotted across Canada on the ski slopes, cycling trails and skating rinks. Now it’s time to increase awareness of our adorable products beyond the Canadian borders so Tail Wags has partnered with Amazon.com.
