My heart and prayers go out to the family and friends of Erika Lamb, the 16 year old who died from her head injuries while skiing at Blue Mountain. Although she was wearing a safety helmet, the accident was so serious that even her helmet couldn't save her. Unfortunately some people will use this as an excuse or justification for not wearing a helmet. Please remember that although helmets cannot 100% guarantee your safety, they are still the best method we have of protecting your head! I know this first hand ... my ski helmet saved my life when I skied full speed in to a tree while skiing at Blue Mountain over 10 years ago. My helmet shattered upon impact but I survived! Please "Play It Safe" and wear a safety helmet while skiing, snowboarding, biking, tobogganing and skating!
