Don't Ride Naked to School

Posted by Karyn Climans on

You are probably asking yourself, "What is she talking about?" and I can't blame you. Who would possibly ride naked to school? You'd be surprised. I see it all the time ... parents and kids riding their bikes, scooters, roller blades and skateboards without a safety helmet!
Two years ago, Tail Wags Helmet Covers launched its "Mothers Against Naked Riding" campaign and it's time to remind people of the importance of helmet safety. Back to school is a particularly busy time on the roads. Who doesn't dread the additional traffic on the streets immediately following Labour Day weekend each year? On top of that, children headed to and from school are adding to the congestion. The easiest way to protect your child and ensure their safety is to make sure they are wearing a safety helmet. Please keep in mind that bones heal but brains don't, so if your child suffers a head injury while cycling to school, the consequences can be life changing.

Of course, it goes without saying that parents need to be good role models for their kids. Even though adults aren't required by law to wear a safety helmet in all parts of Canada, it makes sense to "Play It Safe" and sport your helmet.
