Toronto's Bike Month

The City of Toronto is promoting several events this week to highlight Bike Month 2013. They include guided bike tours, art shows, film screenings and the May 27th Bike to Work Group Commute! Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong is Chair of the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee and wrote, "Cycling is a healthy activity that everyone in the family can enjoy, and it's becoming a real option to driving for many." For those of you who read my blog frequently, you'll know one of my pet peeves is parents who don't wear a safety helmet while biking, skiing and other active sports. This behaviour sends a very confusing message to kids and leaves them wondering if: * Adult brains don't need protecting? * Adults are invincible? Remember ... "Monkey See, Monkey Do"! Earth Day

It's Earth Day today and I decided the best way I could help our environment is to make a pledge to take my bike on all short trips to the bank, post office and local grocery store. Just think how much money I'll save in gas and how good I'll feel knowing I'm doing something positive to decrease air pollution and traffic congestion!
